After the meal, and depending on the arrangement, the chefs clean the kitchen, wash the dishes and leave the workspace tidy. Their clientele is varied: families with children, busy couples, retired people, people who follow special diets, or simply people who enjoy (and can afford) good food in the comfort of their homes. A personal chef sets his own work schedule and selects customers accordingly. Some may continue to work in professional kitchens and cook for one or two private clients to supplement their income, while others run their business full time, juggling multiple clients and their corresponding culinary needs.
Many personal chefs work alone, but depending on the nature of each job, they may employ one or two assistants. A private chef works full time for a client in their private residence, whether it's a house, hotel or yacht.
