What's the difference between a personal and private chef?

A personal chef is essentially a professional chef who prepares meals for a customer or a family. This can happen in the customer's home or in the chef's own kitchen. A private chef, on the other hand, is a chef who works in a private home, usually for a single client or family. The main difference is that a private chef is employed by an individual or family full time and often lives with them to take care of their daily meals. On the other hand, a personal chef can serve several clients in a short period of time, usually a few days, and provide them with personalized meals designed for their particular needs and requests.

People need the services of a personal chef when they organize special events, dinners, or when they need weekly nutrition plans. Usually, a personal chef works exclusively for a family or individual, prepares meals on a regular basis, and often lives in the establishment. They may be responsible for shopping, menu planning, and cleaning after meals. Possibly the biggest disadvantage of hiring a private chef is that for someone on an “average budget”, private chefs are very expensive. A private chef usually works full time for a family or household in their private residence and earns an annual salary with benefits.

A private chef works full time for a client in their private residence, whether it's a house, hotel or yacht.
